Sandwich of exercise

Today marks day 5 of exercise. Ran 6 on Sunday followed by three days of yoga and running again this morn. Walking a couple hours after running I felt like a train had hit me but now I feel good. I’m gonna double up and hit yoga again after work to streeeetch out.

Dinner last night was straight veggies. I threw some kale into the oven and the chips were amazing. I’m going to start buying two bags so I can make kale chips alot.


I also peeled a clementine in one peel. Dmo calls this the starfish peel and he was very proud of me.



Yogurt creation 1

Every morning I eat either fat-free plain Greek yogurt, a bowl of Kashi GoLean or egg white oatmeal. I like to get a strong combo of protein and fiber, and eat about 300 calories.
I am addicted to seeds and make sure I get a serving in on top of my breakfast. They are so nutritious, high in fiber and easy. Definitely a staple.

Yogurt Creation #1
Mix following ingredients in this order:
1 cup Trader Joes non-fat Greek yogurt
1T trader joes raspberry preserves (sweetener)
1T Trader Joes chia seeds
3 strawberries, sliced
1/2 peach, sliced
Sprinkle of cinnamon
1/4 cup Kashi goLean for a crunch!


313 calories
28 grams of protein!!!
10 grams of fiber 🙂

Curry creation

Tonight we made curry. We didn’t have curry paste or coconut milk, but conjured our own sauce with half the container of curry powder, about 2 cups unsweetened almond milk, about 3T of brown sugar, a dash of salt and garlic. We sautĂ©ed this crazy looking broccoli, peppers, onions, spinach and garlic, added the rest of the squash (cubed, peeled) and then poured our curry sauce on top. The whole thing simmered for about 20-25 minutes, and we made about 1.5 servings of quinoa to split between the two of us.

It was crazy good, way too much food and I can’t wait to eat the leftovers for lunch on top of kale tomorrow.


This is broccoli romanesco. I’ve been spotting it floating around whole foods for a couple of weeks now and we absolutely love it. It comes looking like a big intimidating flower, but each of those little pyramid shaped things are buds and they snap right off. It has a huge stalk which we don’t cut but the single vegetable alone yields almost 2 cups of broccoli florets. It’s delicious.

This morning I ran allll the way to the beach.. 6 full miles. Becky got this amazing Garmin watch for xmas which shows you exactly how far you have gone and what pace you are currently running at. After every mile it gives you the pace for that mile… My first one was about a 9:04, 2nd was 10 something and then the rest were 9:30-9:45. But it felt amazing. When I got to the beach I took a bunch of pics to send to my fam and then went to Dmos to wake him up from his hangover.

I spent the day just running around westwood and we are about to eat a delicious salmon dinner!

What happened in the last couple days…?

I’m sure all of you have been wondering where I’ve been since Sunday….
It’s been an exciting week of midterms.


I made DMO a bunch of apple slices with almond butter and ate them while he wasn’t looking…


Poor Beck ate half the bag of pistachios because she was feeling desperate and stressed


We made a delicious dinner of veggie stuffed organic spaghetti squash… we used romanesco broccoli (looks like a beautiful flower), peppers, mushrooms, onions and sprinkled low-fat mozzarella… SO AMAZING


WE WENT GROCERY SHOPPING… check the amount of vita coco…!!!

It’s been a pretty exciting week! I worked out 4 out of 5 days… ran twice, stairs once, weights once, yoga twice, pilates once and sculpt this morning. Was amazing. I was very efficient with studying and exercising.

Killed my midterms!!!

Went to our favorite restaurant Tar and Roses for Valentines Day. It was so romantic and lovely. I gave dmo some chocolate truffles and wine (plus some pressed juice in the morning) and he gave me this giant box of chocolates. I left it at his place and I’m sure hes already eaten 5 more pieces. Yummmm

This weekend should be a good one! We are going to go to his friend’s beach house for a barbecue Sunday and theres no work or school Monday.

Two amazing dinners and Boogie shorts

The catfish we had tonight was so good. Recently me and Beck both have been shifting out of our salmon obsession and trying new fish. The black cod earlier this week was buttery and flakey – at about $6 for both of us, we definitely thought it was worth it.

Tonight we made catfish, lightly breaded and sautĂ©ed in olive oil. I really don’t like using too much panko but just enough makes the fish really good. Becky’s dad usually makes it with black bean and corn salsa, but the Whole Foods salsa didn’t look too good. A lot of black beans and only a couple corn kernels. So we made our own. We bought the frontera medium corn salsa, and then I sautĂ©ed about 1/2 cup of black beans (rinsed and drained) with some chopped onion and garlic. We split that between us both as garnish and it was so good. We are both so full though – definitely gonna have a good run day tomorrow.

Yoga tonight was awesome. I went to Marxel for some C2 and wore my new boogie shorts from Lululemon. Paired with the new mat I was feeling on top of my game. All my girlfriends like to wear leggings or pants when we go to core power but I cannot stand it. I feel super restricted and itchy and its just not a good combo. Until I got some real yoga clothes I used to just wear these shorts I made out of my solow yoga pants (similar to hard tail) and another pair I made out of old hard tail pants. They were both cotton and I liked their rise and fit (I could even take my shirt off in yoga sometimes! without having any major pinching/squeezing). At the end of the summer when I went home to Chicago for 2 weeks, I went on a major spending spree at the mall and ended up buying these Lucy shorts. They were so much better than the cotton handmade shorts, and now that I have the boogies I really don’t like wearing the antiques. I definitely want to buy some more.
